GRADING CATEGORIES:
Summative Assessments (Unit Tests, Lesson Tests, Projects) 60% Formative Assessments (Labs and Quizzes) 30% Formative Assessments (classwork) 10% Your grades are a reflection of your progress towards the mastery of the standards taught. Grades will be based on the total number of points earned for each assignment completed. I will hold students to the due dates of assignments, which is no different than what they will experience in the REAL WORLD. Assessments will be given periodically to check for student understanding including unit, mid-year and end of year tests. Part of your education is learning how to organize and manage time. In this regard, I have a policy that all homework/projects will be due in accordance with the date written in the student’s planner. This date will usually be the next day unless stated otherwise. MISSING ASSIGNMENTS WILL SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER YOUR OVERALL GRADES. Assignments will be accepted late, however students will receive a maximum of 70% for a perfect assignment. |
Managing Student Work: Once the assignments have been recorded and returned to you, you will need to collect and maintain all of these assignments for test preparation. You will need to store these pages in the correct place in your Interactive Notebook. Keep track of your grades on your Table of Contents page.
Supplies: The following items will be needed in class daily: 1” binder, 1 package of #2 pencils, notebook paper and page protectors (binder dividers are optional). From time to time you will need highlighters, colored pencils, hand-held sharpener, ruler, glue sticks and scissors; these items are easily stored in a binder pouch so you have them every day. For projects you will need to keep construction paper at home; for in class “arts” assignments paper will be provided for you. Hall Passes: The electronic device will be traded for a hall pass to the restroom. |
